Gary Woodland (neck) withdraws from PGA Championship

MOSEL, Wis. –– Gary Woodland withdrew from the PGA Championship Thursday at Whistling Straits, citing a neck injury, and was replaced by Carl Pettersson.

Pettersson, who played a practice round Wednesday at Whistling Straits as the first alternate, will now tee off at 9:25 a.m. Eastern alongside Francesco Molinari and Marc Warren.

Woodland had played in the last four PGA Championships. He tied for 12th in his PGA debut in 2011, the first of three made cuts, before missing the cut last year.

Pettersson will make his 10th PGA start. His best finish is a T-3 in 2013.
