BANDON, Ore. – Courtney Dow and Brooke McDougald met by the scoreboard at the 2005 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship. McDougald had overheard Dow mispronouncing her surname (called her McDonald) and quickly walked over to set her straight.
“When we met Brooke was correcting me, and she’s still correcting me,” said Dow. “Nothing really has changed.”
They are nothing alike, apart from the matching outfits and Texas roots. McDougald, 18, likes to play it straight down the middle, in golf and life. Dow, 17, is a risk-taker. She tried to hit a left-handed shot backwards out of a bunker on the 13th hole at Pacific Dunes.
