Warriors’ Elliot Williams tries to stay optimistic after latest injury

Elliot Williams is cautious discussing a possible return date from his latest surgery. At some point in a career derailed by injuries, the shooting guard learned to keep his expectations in check.

“Obviously I’m optimistic, but I don’t want to put a timetable on it,” said Williams, who underwent minor surgery on his right knee last month. “You have to listen to your body, but I’m feeling good.”

Head coach Steve Kerr is hopeful Williams will come back for a preseason game or two. By that time, his chances of winning the Warriors’ 15th and final roster spot would be slim, at best.
