Pizarro: Warriors celebrate community champions in San Jose

There's some cosmic irony that the same day the Supreme Court ended San Jose's legal efforts to lure one Oakland sports team, another Oakland sports team -- the Golden State Warriors -- was being celebrated at San Jose City Hall.

The Warriors, who were playing an exhibition game at SAP Center on Monday night, were the recipients of a proclamation delivered by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and also partnered with the mayor's office to honor Champions in the Community: Chad Bojorquez, Downtown Streets Team's manager of client services and Baker Elementary School teacher Debbie Pavlos; as well as representatives from 1,000 Hearts For 1,000 Minds, Work2 Future's SJ Works summer youth employment program and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation's workshop for the My Brother's Keeper initiative.
