Harrison Barnes Won't Play This Week For Warriors

Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes will not play this week as he recovers from a sprained ankle, according to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Barnes sprained his ankle in Golden State's 135-116 win over the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 27, and was originally only projected to miss three games. However, the forward has missed the Warriors' last nine games and will miss at least two more.

Interim head coach Luke Walton originially cautioned that the team won't rush Barnes back, saying they want to avoid "lingering injuries" this year, hoping to have their whole roster fresh and healthy for the postseason.

Brandon Rush has started every game in Barnes' place, and is averaging 4.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game this season.

He is averaging 13.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists this year while starting 17 games for the Warriors this season.
