CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — With tears in his eyes and his mother by his side, Malik Herring saw his high school football career come to an end last Friday in a 38-17 loss to Cartersville in the GHSA 4A state semifinals.
As he took off his white and gold Mary Persons jersey afterward, the process was slow as he came to grips with the fact that he would no longer wear it again.
“No other jersey is probably going to feel like that jersey,” Herring said. “Just because I’ve got my brothers behind me, who have known me so well.
