Mark Richt averaged almost 10 wins per season in his 15-year tenure at Georgia, but he only won two SEC titles and Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart says that’s why he is the head coach’s office and not still defensive coordinator at Alabama.
“What Mark did was remarkable,” Smart told ESPN.com. “Averaging almost 10 wins over 15 years in the SEC is really amazing. But in the last five or six years, the East has been down, and you also have to be competitive with the West. So we know exactly why we’re here and what the expectations are, and I can assure you we have those same expectations.
