Georgia to finally build locker room inside Sanford Stadium

The University of Georgia athletic board approved the use of $1 million from the reserve fund for the “pre-construction and design” phase of a new home locker room and recruiting entertainment area at Sanford Stadium. The new spaces would be built on the west end of Sanford Stadium, underneath the Sanford Drive bridge.

“The purpose of the stadium project is to ask the question, ‘What can we do to maximize our space,’ ” Georgia AD Greg McGarity said in a statement released by the school. “That’s what an architect will help us answer. Right now, we have a lot of dreams and ideas for how to use the space and getting an architect on board will allow us to document that.
