WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Thompson III announced today that Akbar Waheed will join his staff as an assistant coach.
Waheed comes to the Hilltop after spending last year as an assistant coach at Hofstra University. The Pride finished the 2015-16 season with a 24-10 record and an appearance in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
“Akbar will be a tremendous addition to our staff,’ Thompson said. “His strengths are multi-faceted, he has a history of identifying, evaluating, recruiting and developing young men. Each aspect is essential. He is extremely smart and is a tireless worker.
