Thursday, the news that seemed to be a half decade in the making finally happened when ACC commissioner John Swofford announced that the conference had signed a deal with ESPN to become the next mega conference to have their own cable television network.
Starting this fall, the league will have more games appearing online under the banner of ACC Network Plus, with the television counterpart planned to begin in time for the 2019 football season, while the conference is shooting for sooner but preparing for later (we can all bet which one is more likely).
For years, this had been a subject or discussion between conference schools and, quite frankly, a reason many used as to why schools like FSU, Clemson and other powerful, money making programs should look elsewhere for a conference.
