PORT CHARLOTTE - Logan Allen allowed no earned runs over six innings and FIU scored timely runs to defeat Western Michigan, 4-2, in a six-inning rain-shortened game at the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte.
FIU's second game of Saturday's two-opponent doubleheader with George Mason was postponed due to rain. The Panthers and the Patriots will play a doubleheader Sunday at 3 p.m. from FIU's Infinity Insurance Park.
With the win the Panthers are now 7-7 while the Broncos dropped to 8-6.
For the third straight start, Allen, a freshman left-hander, was locked in.
