After an early-afternoon win, FIU softball got a split Saturday following a 2-0 loss to Hofstra in the final game of day two of the FGCU / Four Points Sheraton Invitational. Both teams, struggling to get their bats moving, recorded three hits on the night, as both team pitched effectively.
The only runs of the night came i the third inning when Hofstra drew a walk off of freshman pitcher Shannon Saile (Land O'Lakes, Florida / Land O'Lakes HS). Following the walk, Hofstra sent a two-run homer over the left-center walk.
One of FIU's three hits came from sophomore Jackie Schoff (Bradenton, Florida / Lakewood Ranch HS), who extended her hitting streak to a season-best eight games.
