An FIU running back played a full season while wanted on a domestic violence charge

Wednesday’s arrest of FIU running back Shawndarrius Phillips on a domestic battery by strangulation charge came more than three months after a Broward County court issued a warrant for Phillips arrest.

That means Phillips played 11 games, five of which he started, as a man wanted in the next county. Pembroke Park police arrested the 21-year-old Wednesday. According to FIUSports.com, he’s still on the roster as of Thursday night for FIU’s Dec. 21 Bahamas Bowl game against Toledo.

An FIU spokesman, reached Thursday night, said the program had no comment on Phillips current status or whether anyone with the football program knew about the incident.
