UF sophomore Treon Harris has won the Gators' quarterback race, but do not count out redshirt freshman Will Grier just yet.
Coach Jim McElwain announced Harris would start Saturday night's season-opener in the Swamp against New Mexico State.
But McElwain said Grier still will have a vital role during the game and emphasized the long-term future at the position remains in doubt.
"I wouldn't read too much into it," McElwain said of the decision. "Treon’s going to start the football game. Will’s going to play in that game a lot, too. This is still a painting in progress.
