UF guard Hester to transfer

Florida freshman guard Eric Hester has decided to transfer, according to multiple sources.

The 6-foot-3 Hester averaged 2.2 points and 0.5 rebounds in limiting playing time for the Gators last season behind guards Kasey Hill, Chris Chiozza and KeVaughn Allen. Hester appeared in 20 games but showed promise as an on-ball defender and 3-point shooter (11-19, 57.3 percent from beyond the arc) in his brief appearances on the court.

Hester’s decision to leave opens a scholarship for incoming freshman point guard Michael Okauru, who signed his letter of intent today. Okauru joins forward Chase Johnson, center Isaiah Stokes and swingman DeAundrae Ballard as the fourth member of UF’s 2017 class.
