GAINESVILLE — For the ninth time in the past 10 years, the Florida Gators softball team has advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals.
The No. 1 overall seed Gators (56-5) defeated UCF 8-0 in five innings on Sunday afternoon at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville. The Knights' season came to an end with a 38-22 record, while Florida took the next step in accomplishing its quest for a third straight national title.
"Excited and happy for our kids," Florida head coach Tim Walton said. "This is something that's really difficult to do and I think our kids really do a good job of making it look easy at times.
