ATLANTA — Steve Spurrier’s time as a college football coach is done, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped winning awards for his longtime work.
A week after it was announced that he had won it, Spurrier received the 2016 Contributions to College Football Award on Thursday night at the College Football Awards.
Spurrier said afterward that receiving the award is about calling up old memories.
“When you’re coaching, you always talk to your players about creating memories of a lifetime,” Spurrier said. “When they were showing the videos of all those SEC (championships) in those six years at Florida, now the guys are enjoying those 20 years later.
