Sluggish Gators hold off Commodores

The Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — All SEC wins, especially those on the road, are to be celebrated, regardless of the opponent, regardless of how poorly the winning team might have played.

1. The Gators needed two defensive stands late in the fourth quarter to hold on to a win that coach Jim McElwain described as ugly. Safety Nick Washington sealed it with his interception with only 54 seconds to play.

2. Florida’s offensive line was manhandled for much of the game, which may explain why the Commodores won the statistical battle, outgaining the Gators 265 yards to 236.
