New UF assistant Brad Davis embraces challenges facing Gators' O-line

GAINESVILLE — Coach Brad Davis was making his postseason visit to the dentist when he received some big news.

The 36-year-old was cavity free, keeping alive an impressive streak dating to the fourth grade.

Nothing new there.

When Davis exited the office, though, he was on the cusp of major promotion. UF coach Jim McElwain had called Davis while he was being examined to find out whether he was the man to bring a smashmouth mentality to the Gators’ offensive line.

“I’m fortunate my dentist was very understanding,” Davis joked Thursday, when was introduced along with new secondary coach Corey Bell and running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider.
