Some of the unknown surrounding the quarterback situation at Florida became clear Wednesday when Jim McElwain named sophomore Treon Harris the starter for Saturday’s opener against New Mexico State.
But McElwain also was quick to announce that redshirt freshman Will Grier will play in the game and that the competition for the full-time starting role will continue.
“We're going to go ahead and start Treon in this ballgame at quarterback. Will obviously will play,” McElwain said after practice. “As we said, someone starts, someone comes in. Both of them I feel are deserving of it.
“Both of them had a really good spring and fall and we're excited about seeing those guys play.
