Purdue transfer Austin Appleby will remain the Florida Gators' starting quarterback against Iowa during the Outback Bowl, UF confirmed.
Luke Del Rio will serve as his backup on Jan. 2 in Tampa.
Speaking to reporters Thursday in Tampa, UF coach Jim McElwain closed the door on the idea he would start either first-year freshman Feliepe Franks and Kyle Trask. The move would burn a redshirt season for one game, but also would be a nod to the future.
