Freshmen receivers are catching on

Sometimes, young receivers need time to develop in college football.

But through the first four games of 2016, Florida has gotten contributions from three true freshman wide receivers. The Gators are hopeful the three continue to make progress on Saturday when they play at Vanderbilt.

The promising young targets for the Gators this season include Josh Hammond (eight catches, 118 yards), former North Marion High standout Freddie Swain (six catches, 74 yards, two TDs) and highly touted recruit Tyrie Cleveland (one catch for 36 yards).

Florida wide receivers coach Kerry Dixon said Hammond and Swain both benefited by enrolling early last January.
