The No. 2 seed Florida Gators’ 2015-16 season finally came to close following a tough 82-77 loss to No. 4 seed George Washington Wednesday night in Washington, D.C.
It was a hard-fought contest on both ends of the floor, but GWU simply outplayed Florida down the stretch and earned its spot in the NIT semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Colonials’ two big men — senior forward Kevin Larsen and redshirt junior forward Tyler Cavanaugh — controlled the game from start to finish. Combined, they scored 42 points, shot 15-for-29 from the field and hauled in 19 rebounds en route to a quarterfinal victory that sent the Gators packing.
