Could a resurgent Vanderbilt offense test Florida?

NASHVILLE — After an incredible Vanderbilt offensive turnaround and an equally incredible Florida meltdown, the Commodores might very well stand a chance against the Gators in Nashville on Saturday.

His first three games had been rough, but Vandy quarterback Kyle Shurmur had a career game against Western Kentucky, going 18-of-29 for 279 yards and the game-winning TD in overtime. The completions and passing yards were career-highs. For comparison, Shurmur had just 376 passing yards through the first three games combined.

“That young guy never got rattled,” Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason told reporters about Shurmur this week. When we needed him to play big, he played big.
