Three-star 2018 tight end Lee Payton grew up as a Tim Tebow fan. On Monday, he received his first SEC offer, and it came from the Florida Gators.
“It was very shocking because I just started getting in contact with (tight ends) Coach (Greg) Nord from Florida,” Payton told GN. “I really didn’t know what to say when he told me. Coming from a small school in River Rouge to getting an offer like Florida is a pretty amazing thing. It’s a blessing.”
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Payton is from River Rouge (Mich.) High in the Detroit suburbs.
