This spring is when college programs started noticing Jake Allen.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound quarterback recently transferred from Cardinal Gibbons to St. Thomas Aquinas. He impressed at various camps and 7-on-7 tournaments, and he did so well at the University of Miami's 7-on-7 event that he was offered a scholarship from the Hurricanes the same day.
Florida, however, was the offer he was waiting for. Allen received it June 10, and on Wednesday he announced his commitment to the Gators.
Allen becomes the Gators' second commit for the Class of 2017. The first was Deerfield Beach receiver Lavarus Tigner.
