Florida Atlantic shortstop Tyler Frank became the first Owl ever named to USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team, when the organization announced its roster Wednesday for a five-game series against Japan.
Frank was the only Conference USA player on the 24-man roster and one of three players who attended a school in Florida: Florida State’s Tyler Holton and UCF’s Bryce Tucker. The team typically comprises the best rising sophomores and juniors in the country.
The Owls’ everyday shortstop last season, Frank has bounced around the field with Team USA, earning early starts at second base, shortstop and third base before more recent playing time in left and right field.
