BOCA RATON — Her past comments were shocking, but one line from motivational speaker Emily Austen especially stuck with Florida Atlantic defensive tackle Steven Leggett.
“She said she almost killed herself,” said Leggett, a senior defensive tackle from Belle Glade.
A former sideline reporter for Fox Sports Florida’s Tampa Bay Rays and Orlando Magic coverage, Austen was fired in June 2016 for racially charged comments she made on a Barstool Sports show. An FAU graduate, Austen made disparaging comments about Mexican, Asian, and Jewish people and called Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love a “little b—h.
