Defense beats offense as FAU finishes first spring under Lane Kiffin

For most of Florida Atlantic’s annual spring game Saturday afternoon, coach Lane Kiffin remained in his position about 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage. He stood. He crouched. He flipped his headset from offense to defense and back.

It was his first time coaching inside FAU Stadium since being named the Owls’ coach in December and Saturday’s game completed his first spring in Boca Raton. Using a modified scoring system, the defense beat the offense, 62-33.

Quarterbacks Jason Driskel and De’Andre Johnson continued their quarterback competition, with Driskel working with the first-team offense and Johnson primarily with the second unit.
