Following Thursday’s practice Kelly announced Nick Martin, Joe Schmidt, Jaylon Smith, Matthias Farley and Sheldon Day as the elected captains for this season, with Day and Martin going back-to-back in the position. Stanley and Schmidt swap in for Cam McDaniel and Austin Collinsworth, meaning the Irish replaced a back-up running back and a reserve safety with a potential Top 10 draft pick and last year’s team MVP.
