Morgan: Burnley A Wake-Up Call

Morgan Schneiderlin says a first-half “slap on the face” was the catalyst for Everton’s winning performance against Burnley.

The midfielder acknowledged the Blues were not their normal free-flowing selves in the opening 45 minutes before, ultimately, cranking through the gears after half-time and securing a Club Premier League record eighth successive home win.

“The first half was a nice slap on our face to make sure we got on the front-foot,” said the Frenchman.

“Burnley are a tough team and there were a lot of second balls. They won a lot of those in the first half and we had to correct that in the second half and be more composed.
