Liverpool U23 Brooks Lennon happy to prove his worth in Everton win

BIRKENHEAD, England -- Liverpool youngster Brooks Lennon believes he fully grasped his opportunity to prove his worth by scoring in the Under-23's 2-0 victory over Everton on Sunday.

The U.S. forward opened the scoring in the mini-Merseyside Derby with a well-taken header shortly after half-time before captain Harry Wilson secured the win for Liverpool's second string in the 77th minute.

Manager Michael Beale wanted Lennon to replicate the performances of striker Danny Ings, who has been firing on all cylinders for the U23s so far this season.

Ings' presence in Beale's side has restricted Lennon's playing time in recent months but the 19-year-old insists he always knew he would get his chance eventually.
