Blues Celebrate Living Wage Week

Goodison Park played host to a special event to mark the start of Living Wage Week 2017.

As an accredited Living Wage employer, Everton Football Club, Everton in the Community and Everton Free School hosted the Merseyside leg of a series of national events to recognise the work being done to tackle in-work poverty, low pay and to celebrate the successes of businesses which are accredited Living Wage employers.

Organised by the Living Wage Foundation, the Alex Young Suite at Goodison Park hosted a number of local businesses, politicians, trade unions and community groups. Guests received a welcome from Everton’s Deputy CEO, Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale, who spoke about why Everton were committed to paying the Living Wage, the business reasons for becoming an accredited Living Wage employer and how businesses have to play their part in making the Living Wage part of their strategic business thinking.
