As the Edmonton Oilers continue with training camp, they cut the roster to 51 players Tuesday. There are 30 forwards, 16 defensemen and five goalies remaining on the roster.
Edmonton assigned Scott Allen, Joey Benik Jaedon Descheneau and Frankie Simonelli to the AHL affiliate Condors, and also assigned Ethan Bear, Caleb Jones and Markus Niemelainen to their respective WHL and OHL clubs Tuesday.
With these cuts, the Oilers look to start the preseason 2-0 as they face off against Vancouver Wednesday. Head Coach Todd McLellan told the media that he liked what he saw in the preseason opener.
