The Edmonton Oilers announced Tuesday that they will name a captain during training camp prior to the start of the 2016-17 season.
“We’ll select captain at some point throughout training camp,” Head Coach Todd McLellan told NHL.com. “We’ll pick a captain when we’re all around and together as a group.”

Training camp opening Sept. 22, and the World Cup of Hockey also starting around the same time and could run into October. This means taht the Oilers could name a captain as early as September, but it will likely be in October prior to the Oct.
