Edmonton Oilers May Go PTO Route for Defense, Per Stauffer

The Edmonton Oilers have a couple more holes to fill when it comes to defense, and according to Bob Stauffer, the Oilers may turn to something a little different than the trade route.

Stauffer said on Oilers Now Friday afternoon that the Oilers could use PTOs (player tryout contracts) to attempt and fill those empty roster spots, likely shutting down the rumors that the Oilers are looking to add another piece via trade, or that they are going to acquire a big name thanks arbitration.

There are a few options that could look nice on the Oilers’ backend, one of them being 40-year-old Dan Boyle.
