Edmonton Oilers: Can Laurent Brossoit Win a Roster Spot

The Edmonton Oilers gave Laurent Brossoit the chance to prove himself with the team when they traded Anders Nilsson away to the St. Louis Blues, making space for him to be the backup to declared starter Cam Talbot. However, in his NHL stint, the AHL All-Star didn’t prove too impressive.

In just five games, he posted an 0-4-1 record, surrendering 18 goals. His streaky play, as well as a 3.60 GAA and .873 save percentage, made the Oilers unsure of whether or not he can make thejump to the NHL as a trusted backup, especially if it boiled down to Talbot (heaven forbid) being injured or ill, or just unable to start.
