YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior right-handed pitcher Sam Delaplane (San Jose, Calif.-Leigh) was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week today, April 17. It is the second weekly award of his career, and the third of the season for EMU, as juniors Brad Allen (Manchester, Mich.-Manchester (Jackson College)) and Brent Mattson (Canton, Mich.-Canton) have also earned the conference accolade.
Delaplane had a career-outing in an 8-2 win over Ohio to open the weekend series. The righty tossed the first complete game in his EMU career, striking out a career-high 12 Bobcats in the process, while not giving up a walk.
