LEXINGTON, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) – For the first time since 2002, the Eastern Michigan volleyball program had a player named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region team. Senior Alyssa LaFace (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) earned Midwest Region Honorable Mention, the organization announced Tuesday, Dec. 4.
LaFace becomes the first Eagle since Camila Olaio to earn the honor of all-region.
The award provides a perfect bookend to the Allen Park, Mich. native's career, which began in 2015 as a walk-on. LaFace finished her senior season with a 5.75 digs per set mark, good for seventh in the NCAA, and put up 725 total digs in the season, the second-best single-season total in EMU history.
