ECU signs 11-year-old Galaska to team

ECU head baseball coach Cliff Godwin and 11-year-old Rhettec Galaska during a press conference.

Rhettec, a fifth-grader at St. Peter Catholic School in Greenville, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2014, which is a form of cancer that starts in the white blood cells and attacks the body's immune system which makes it harder to fight infections and diseases. If not treated properly, the disease can spread to other parts of the body.

Through team IMPACT, a nonprofit organization based in Boston that’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life threatening illnesses, Rhettec was surprised with the opportunity to sign his National Letter of Intent to become a member of the ECU baseball team.
