Vic Bubas has been out of coaching since 1970. Christian Laettner was about a year old.
He was an innovative and thoughtful guy though. Here are two videos of him being interviewed before the 1967-68 season.
The first features him talking about what a dumb move it was to outlaw the dunk, a rule which was aimed squarely at Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, then still known as Lew Alcindor.
The funniest part of this is when he talks about ticket prices starting at $2.50 and going “all the way up to $5.00.” He really nails it though when he talks about the entertainment value of the dunk.
