Wojo: Tigers battered and bruised but still in the hunt

Detroit – The seams are popping and the lineup is blurring. The Tigers are using duct tape and binding wire, mud packs and Mud Hens these days, and they’re going to need more than that.

They’re running low on players and low on runs, although as we’ve seen all season, that could turn around as players heal. But the Tigers can’t wait for it to happen, swaddled in bandages, and they certainly can’t play as sloppily as they did in a 6-1 thumping by the Royals.

Time is running low, and someone – paging Justin Upton yet again – will have to deliver meaningful performances now, or the Tigers won’t be playing meaningful games next month.
