Tigers spring training notebook: Jaws drop when Miggy arrives

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The biggest stars are frequently the last to arrive to spring training camp, and there is no bigger star on the Detroit Tigers than Miguel Cabrera.

"I think for young guys, especially the first time in big-league camp, there's a little bit of a dropped jaw," said Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. "'Oh, there's Miguel Cabrera.' He's pretty recognizable."

Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Ian Kinsler and Justin Upton all participated Saturday in the first full-squad workout. No player was late, delayed or missing. Many of the younger players, including everyone competing for the center field job arrived earlier in the week.
