As the Tigers close in on catching up with the rest of Major League Baseball on the analytics end, general manager Al Avila said last week the organization’s internal software system -- dubbed "Caesar" -- is ready to be powered up.

But that news is only the latest step towards Avila’s goal of beefing up the Tigers’ analytics department.
