There will be plenty of deals at the Winter Meetings, but there will still be plenty of time to trade after they are over. There's no reason to rush into a bad deal now.
The Tigers also have the option of waiting until the 2017 trade deadline. This year proved that contending teams who believe they are only one piece away from a World Series are willing to spend wildly in July. If the Tigers are out of the race, some players might be more likely to waive no-trade clauses to play on a pennant contender.
