McClendon happy to return as Triple-A Toledo manager

TOLEDO – Lloyd McClendon is a baseball lifer.

He’s that baseball guy they put in books, Detroit Tigers vice president of player development Dave Littlefield said, “That’s why he’s here.”

McClendon is back in the Tigers’ organization, back in uniform and back in the dugout. He will manage Triple-A Toledo in 2016, the Mud Hens announced this afternoon, and the man nicknamed “Legendary Lloyd” is excited to begin the next chapter of his career.

“I think it would have been hard to stay at home and collect a paycheck,” McClendon said after being introduced at Fifth Third Field.
