Ex-OF Pat Sheridan found nothing beat playing for hometown Tigers

Pat Sheridan arrived in Major League Baseball as a prospect with the Kansas City Royals and played in two World Series, but there's a reason his most enjoyable seasons came with the Detroit Tigers.

Sheridan grew up in Wayne (outside Detroit), became a Hall of Fame player at Eastern Michigan and couldn't have been happier when he signed with the Tigers as a free agent after the 1985 season.

"When you grow up rooting for a team, to be able to play for them is something special," said Sheridan, who still lives in the Detroit area and will appear at the West Michigan Whitecaps game on Friday.
