With Detroit Tigers lacking timely hits, Jose Iglesias comes through with first career walk-off hit

DETROIT -- In a game where the Detroit Tigers lacked timely hitting for 8 1/3 innings, Jose Iglesias came through when it mattered most.

The 25-year-old shortstop grounded an 0-2 pitch from Chicago left-handed reliever Zach Duke past the right side in the bottom of the 9th inning Friday, scoring Andrew Romine from third to help the Tigers to a 2-1 walk-off win over the White Sox at Comerica Park.

It was the first career walk-off hit for Iglesias, now in his fourth year in the Major Leagues.

"When you get to that (0-2), you don't do too much," said Iglesias, who was 2-for-4.
