Monday’s lineups: Tigers at Mariners

Though the splits are pretty even in a small sample size this season, left-handed batters hit Hisashi Iwakuma much better than right-handed hitters did last year. The problem the Tigers face, of course, is that they only have so many left-handed hitters. Thus, Alex Avila moves from first base back behind the plate, and Andrew Romine gets the start at first base. Still waiting on word whether Marc Krauss will get here in time to be available for this game. Should know more in a little bit when the clubhouse opens.

TIGERS (career numbers off Iwakuma)

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B (9-for-23, double, 3 HR, 2 walks, 5 K’s)
  2. Yoenis Cespedes, LF (10-for-24, 5 doubles, 3 HR, 6 K’s)
  3. Victor Martinez, DH (3-for-6, HR, 2 walks)
  4. J.
