L.A. Angels 5, Detroit 1: Tigers unravel in eighth as offense runs dry

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Hindsight, they say, is 20/20.

And after the Detroit Tigers’ latest loss, a pitcher’s duel that fell apart in the eighth inning, all they could do was look back in hindsight on another loss to the Angels on the road.

In hindsight, Justin Verlander wouldn’t have thrown a fastball on pitch No. 104. James McCann wouldn’t have thrown to first base on a frenzied fielder’s choice 12 pitches later. But the look inside the visitors' clubhouse at Angel Stadium of Anaheim was the same it has been for 16 of the past 18 games they’ve played there: No music, few players lounging around their lockers and even fewer answers after a 5-1 loss on Monday night.
